Dr. Marcia Baker, Owner, LPCS

I provide counseling to patients of all ages with various diagnoses that include anxiety, stress, anger, depression, substance use, sleep deprivation and behavioral nutrition concerns. I utilize health psychology, mental health education, substance use education and yoga principles into the practice as I work with patients. Overall wellness is the focus for the patients I work with which includes, nutrition, sleep and exercise while working on their emotional and behavioral concerns. I implement the Strengthening Families program (an evidenced based program) for those families that are in need of creating a healthy environment that promotes positive experiences in family life.

My specialty is in wellness, using alternative methods to medication if needed to improve depression, anxiety, ADHD, substance use and overall behavioral health.

Evidenced based practices that have been researched and found effective are the techniques I use in treating all patients.

Alexia Florentin, Staff Therapist, LPC

I am passionate about taking action to give our non-physical wounds the same amount of care as we do our bodily ones. So many of us keep fighting through life despite being deeply hurt – we want to pull ourselves together and move on so quickly that we do not give our wounds the time they need to heal.

Through a solution-focused, person-centered, and growth-mindset approach, I deliver effective and unique interventions to individuals, couples, and families based on their specific mental health needs. As a Latina immigrant myself, I understand how immigration, acculturation, trauma, and generational struggles affect our Spanish-speaking clientele.

My philosophy is that we all have strengths; together we can create a safe, confidential, and uplifting environment in which to find these strengths while healing, learning, growing, and discovering a better way forward.

Amy Burklew, LPCA

In 2017, I became a yoga practitioner after studying and becoming Yoga Alliance Certified in South Goa, India.  I incorporate yoga principles into my therapy practice as well as movement and meditation, if my patients are open to it.  Since India, I have gained other certifications in the states such as Kids Yoga and Chair Yoga. I have experience working with clients that have depression, anxiety and with substance use disorder problems and recovery.

I implement and specialize in a variety of approaches dependent on my client’s needs.  My therapy modalities include CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centered to comprise a therapeutic journey dedicated to understanding yourself and finding healing.  I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental space to children, adolescents, families, adults, and couples.  I also support and work with the LGBTQ community.

I have availability in the evenings and on Saturdays both in person and virtually.  I am able to accept Cigna and Aetna patients, as well as self-pay. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I am under the supervision of Marcia Baker, PhD, LPC, LPC-S, LCDC.

James Davis, LPCA

Throughout the counseling process I focus on an individual’s unique and innermost goals to help foster a distinctive sense of gratification and overall improvements in self-esteem and self-efficacy.

I am focused on giving patients back ownership over their lives. Many aspects of the world around us can create feelings of loss of control; because of this I opt to use choice theory to provide patients with the tools to focus on what they can influence. Often, we are negatively affected by the world around us; these wounds need proper acute care along with the reinforcement and reassurance that there is a way forward and that you can accomplish your goals.

I look forward to accomplishing these goals together. I am able to accept Cigna and Aetna patients, as well as self-pay. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I am under the supervision of Marcia Baker, PhD, LPC, LPC-S, LCDC.

Thomas Carranza-Watson, LPCA

Hello, my name is Thomas and I am a new addition to Third Coast Counseling and Wellness. My counseling experience has mostly been with adults, particularly those dealing with anxiety and depression, as well as with teenage boys in foster care. I mainly utilize a cognitive behavioral therapy approach, but incorporate aspects from other therapies, including acceptance therapy, commitment therapy, and solution-focused therapy.

I enjoy empowering patients by fostering dignity and self-respect in therapy. I take wellness into account and promote self-care, focusing on exercise, nutrition, and sleeping habits. Additionally, I like to implement psychoeducation, as new information can be a powerful tool to make informed decisions.

My goal is to help you grow as an individual and become the person that you want to be by strengthening yourself. I am able to accept Cigna and Aetna patients, as well as self-pay. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I am under the supervision of Marcia Baker, PhD, LPC, LPC-S, LCDC.
